About Allison
Therapist & fellow Cyster
I am definitely biased, but therapy rocks. I am a firm believer that everyone can benefit from therapy and finding a provider that fits best with what you need is the foundation for progress. I value genuine, warm, and flexible approaches to therapy where I vow to show up authentically as myself, while adapting to the style and pace you need to get to where you need to go. My goal is to help you find the path to a more fulfilled and balanced life, while leaving room for mistakes, hurdles, and let downs along the way. I appreciate humor in the therapy room (or virtual room) and want you to feel comfortable enough to come as you are, each session.
Throughout my work in community mental health over the years, I found myself feeling more energized and aligned when working with women who were navigating reproductive health, body image, and pregnancy & postpartum related concerns, which jumpstarted my virtual therapy practice journey. Being a small part in a very large health system has allowed me to learn more about the systems that affect women when navigating medical and mental health treatment. I strive to provide ethical, compassionate, and holistic support to those experiencing these women’s issues, while recognizing and challenging these systems and the barriers they perpetuate for women. As a fellow “cyster” (iykyk), I have experienced the shortcomings of the medical system first hand and want to extend my knowledge from personal experiences coupled with my training & education to support you as you are navigating your healing.
Outside of loving therapy, I also enjoy spending time outdoors, reading cheesy fiction books, finding joyful movement, spending time with loved ones, and dabbling in new hyperfixation hobbies (most recent being crocheting). Can’t wait to learn more about what inspires you!

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSTY
I am committed to creating space for conversations about diversity in my practice through the lens of cultural humility, which emphasizes that the learning process is ongoing and requires great self-reflection. I am committed to this continuous learning experience with a focus on allyship and advocacy for all of those I work with. I will continue to acknowledge the relationships between intersectional identities and the systems in place that greatly impact one’s health and wellbeing and work together to find pathways to healing while working within the confines of these systems.
TRAINING
I have experience working with adults (18+), Geriatric, and Neuropsychiatric clinics at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Through my experience in these specialty clinics, I have supported many individuals facing various life transitions and challenges, with specialized experience working with body image and disordered eating, reproductive health, pregnancy and postpartum. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with older individuals facing challenges with aging, chronic health challenges, end-of-life care, and grief and loss. While at Bayview, I opened my own private practice solely supporting women navigating challenges with body image, reproductive health, and pregnancy/postpartum. In my private practice, I have specialized experience working with clients navigating infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, PCOS & other medical diagnoses.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I align most with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my practice. I also value components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in therapy. I operate from a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach when working with body image and disordered eating.
